Following extensive building developments over the past decade the opportunity has now arisen for the Parish to fulfill its committment to relay the road surface and provide much needed lay-bys for businesses in the area. The pavements are also being widened tocater for the increased footfall. There is a very close liaison with regular updates for the businesses in the area to ensure disrution is kept to a minimum and their needs catered for.
The project is worth £150,000 but by using Parish labour it is expected to come in the region of £75,000 which includes tarmacadam of the road surface. The length of the project is expected to be in the region of 14 weeks but is dependant on works being carried out by other service companies and we are looking to complete the task during July 2010.
The Project Manager who is also the gentleman that has designed the Scheme is Mr John Stievenard Assistant Director of Technical & Environmental Services Department at the Town Hall. The Contract Manager who is supervising the Project and keeping in close touch with the businesses is Mr Robert Gilmore. The team working on this task will number between 6 and 8 staff which includes two Masons assisted by the remaining team who provide the expertise of vehicle and equipment use.
As at the 2nd week of April we are 4 weeks into the Project and progressing well.
