Among a group of young Jersey footballers recently visiting Madeira to play a series of matches were two St Helier boys.
Adam Trotter and Connor Edwards were part of a team from the Jersey Football Association Capita Centre of Excellence who travelled to the Atlantic island on 7th April 2010. While there, they took part in a number of matches against local opposition in a four team competition. There was also the opportunity to train at the Christiano Ronaldo football campus as special guests of Clube Desportivo Nacional. The training day, which included lunch and a guided tour of the Club’s stadium, pitch and dressing rooms, was a fantastic experience by all accounts.
The visit was led by the Jersey Football Association president Ricky Weir, who presented Clube National’s marketing director Hugo Melo with a wooden plaque in the shape of the island of Jersey to commemorate the trip.
