A water tank burst at the Town Hall over the weekend, causing damage to several areas of the building. One room severely hit was The Old Magistrates Court, the intended venue for voters in district 1.
Such is the extent of the damage that it is considered unsafe to hold a Polling Station in the room, forcing a last minute re-think for Parish officials. Subsequent inspections of the room left officials with no alternative but to change the venue for the second time and move it upstairs to the Assembly Room on the first floor.
The Old Magistrates Court was going to host a Polling Station for the very first time following safety concerns over the previous venue at St James Centre.
If anyone has any doubts where they should be voting then they are encouraged to phone the Electoral Officer on 811833 or by email at daryn.cleworth@posh.je.
