Town Cycle Race Road Restrictions

The Minister for Transport and Technical Services, in pursuance of Article 2 of the Entertainments on Public Roads (Jersey) Law 1985, on the application of Velo Sport Jersey Cycling Club in accordance with the requirements of Article 8(2) of the Town Criterium (Jersey) Order 2011, and after consultation with the Constable of St Helier, and in accordance with Article 67 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956 as amended, that in connection with the Town Cycle Events certain roads will have no parking as set out below:-

On Sunday 29th May the Town Cycle Race will take place around a number of roads in the town centre.  Please read through the following information to see if it applies to you:-

No parking areas from 8am until 6.30pm
The Parade, from Union Street to Cannon Street
Burrard Street
Halkett Place, from Burrard Street to Hill Street
Mulcaster Street
Weighbridge Place
Outside the Pomme D'Or Hotel
Conway Street
Charing Cross
York Street

Roads closed from 10am until 6.30pm
The Parade - east of the Parade Gardens, from the junction with Union Street to a junction with Cannon Street

Roads closed from 11.30am until 6.30pm
Burrard Street, from the junction with Union Steret and New Street to the junction with Halkett Place
Halkett Place, from Burrard Street to Hill Street
Hill Street, from the junction with Halkett Place to the junction with Mulcaster Street and Church Street
Mulcaster Street
The Esplanade, from the junction with Weighbridge Place to the junction with Conway Street
Conway Street, from the Esplanade to Broad Street
Broad Street
Charing Cross
York Street up to Union Street
The Parade, from the junction with York Street to the junction with Gloucester Street
Weighbridge Place

The following variations to normal traffic apply on Sunday 29th May between 11.30am and 6.30pm:
Any vehicle may be driven in either direction on the following road or parts of roads:-
a) Commercial Street
b) Devonshire Place, from the junction with Lempriere Street to the junction with Great Union Road
c) Le Geyt Street
d) Lempriere Street
e) New Street, from the junction with Library Place to the junction with Duhamel Street
f) Seale Street
g) Cattle Street - a vehicle may be driven northwards only
h) Duhamel Place - between Don Street and Grove Street, a vehicle may be driven northwards only

Buses
Buses will travel inward from the East via the tunnel.  Outward services will still use Grenville Street and La Motte Street but not Snow Hill.  The Route 5 will not be able to pick up at the Post Office.  For the normal Broad Street route, the bus will leave the station and will go via the Grand Hotel and Cheapside, and will pick up its normal route from Rouge Bouillon.  Buses will still depart from Liberation Square, but buses from the East will come into town from 11am to 6.30pm using a temporary bus stop on La Route du Fort.

Taxis
No taxis at Weighbridge Place and Library Place from 11am until 6.30pm.  The Snow Hill taxi rank will remain operational all day, together with a taxi rank on the Esplanade from 11am until 6.30pm.
