What date is the election?
The election is on Wednesday, 15 February 2012.
What time is the polling station open?
The polling station opens at 12:00 and closes at 20:00.
Where do I vote?
Town Hall.
Who do I vote for?
The candidates are listed in our special Candidates Section.
Do I need to bring ID?
Yes please. You may be required to produce identification with your name and address on.
How do I vote on polling day?
When you attend the Town Hall you need to go one of the desks to collect a ballot paper from a staff member. On the ballot paper will be the names of the three candidates with a box besides their names. You then need to go into one of the polling booths to cast your secret vote by indicating on the ballot paper your choice. You do this simply by marking the appropriate box with an ‘x’ using the pencil or pen provided. Staff will be on hand at all times to guide voters through the process.
I cannot get down to the polling station on 15 February because I’m away.
If you are unable to vote on 15 February because you are away on holiday or have another commitment then you can still cast your all important vote. The Judicial Greffe can make arrangements for you to vote by post. Please contact the Judicial Greffe on 441319 for more information or download an application form.
You can apply for a postal vote NOW. You do not need to wait until the Pre-Poll Office has opended.
I’m not away from the island but I want to vote before the 15th February. Can I do this?
Yes. The Pre-Poll Voting Office will be open between 6 February and 10 February, allowing you to attend the office at The Judical Greffe and cast your vote as you would normally do on polling day. The full address of the office is shown below.
I have mobility issues and cannot get down to the polling station or the pre-poll and postal voting office?
If you are unable to get down to either the polling station or the pre-poll office then arrangements can be made for an officer from the Judicial Greffe to come to you home and take your vote. Please contact Caroline Coleman the Judicial Greffe on 441319 or the Electoral Officer Daryn Cleworth at the Town Hall on 811833. Forms are also available to download from this website.

Remember, you can apply for a postal vote or pre-poll home visit now. You do not need to wait for the Pre-Poll office to open.
How many candidates do I have to vote for?
You can vote for up to two candidates but you don’t have to vote for two, you can just cast one single vote if you wish.
Will there be a Hustings Meeting?
Yes. It will be held at the Town Hall on Monday, 30 January 2012 at 19:30.
How long is the term of office for a Procureur du Bien Public?
Three years.
What does a ‘Procureur du Bien Public’ do, exactly?
A Procureur du Bien Public is responsible for ensuring ratepayer’s money is spent in accordance with their wishes and as wisely as possible. They work closely with the Constable on all aspects of the parish’s financial affairs and ensure the accuracy of everything that is reported back to the ratepayers. The Procureur du Bien Public will sit on the Parish Roads Committee as well as the Accounts Committee.
