
The Centeniers
There are ten Centeniers for the Parish and they are elected by the public for a period of three years. To become a candidate they need a proposer, a seconder and eight other nominees that will have signed the nomination form. If there is to be an election, there will be a nomination evening where the election date is set by the Royal Court.
Centenier Duties
Each Centenier, after appropriate training, undertakes a duty week approximately every ten weeks. The duty week may involve the following:
Charge and set bail for offenders who have been arrested or reported for offences within the Parish;
attend Parish Hall Enquiries 4 or 5 nights a week to meet persons reported for offences within the Parish;
present cases in the Magistrates Court;
attend sudden deaths within the Parish;
remain on-call to assist Parishioners.
On occasion, a Centenier may also represent the Constable of the Parish in matters relating to the Municipality.

The Vingteniers
There are eleven Vingteniers within the Parish and they are elected at Parish Assemblies for a period of three years. To become a candidate, they need a proposer and a seconder; both of whom need to be on the electoral register. A Vingtenier is elected to one of the seven Vingtaines (districts) within the Parish.
Vingteniers Duties
- The Vingtenier is required to attend the two Branchages each year, and the Visit Royal every six years.
- A Vingtenier is on duty each week to support the Centenier.
- Liasing with the Centenier on issues such as parking, curfews, licensed premises visits and other letters that have come to the notice of the Constable with regards to policing within the Parish.
- Undertake duties such as enquiries, patrols, events, and responding to call-outs.
- Attend a monthly meeting of the Parish Honorary Police.

The Constable Officers
The Constable Officers are elected at a Parish Assembly of the district in which they represent. To become a candidate, they need a proposer and a seconder, both of whom need to be on the electoral register. There are thrity-one Constable Officers in the Parish.
Constable Officer Duties
The Constable Officers undertake a number of duties similar to the Vingteniers listed above, and form the ’Honorary Police’ workforce.
