St Helier has been twinned with the town of Avranches in Normandy since 1982, and with Bad Wurzach in Germany since 2002.  In April 2008 a twinning agreement was signed with Funchal, the capital of Madeira, and it is hoped that the completion of this new twinning will take place in 2009.
