Don't forget to vote for your favourite Christmas Window this year! Voting opened on 16th November and continues until 12th December - you can vote by email to email@example.com, online at www.sthelier.je/whats-on/chris... or by voting slip found in participating stores (these must be handed in to the Town Hall by 5pm on Tuesday 11th December).
There’s nothing more important than the Christmas shop window to attract shoppers through a retailer’s door during the busy Christmas period, increase footfall and encourage customers to buy local, and for the eighth year running St Helier’s retailers are being asked to ‘dress to impress’.
We all know that the St Helier retailers are a creative bunch, and this is therefore the perfect opportunity to showcase their talents. The Competition is being launched on Thursday 15th November, and BBC Radio Jersey will be broadcasting live. The winning shops will be announced on Broad Street at 6pm on Thursday 13th December, at an event with music and fun for all. Winning retailers will receive a certificate and a sticker to be proudly displayed at their premises, and the overall winner will also receive the coveted ‘Christmas Window Display’ trophy.
The five categories are: Small Business, Medium Business, Large Business, Community Window and Overall Winner, and the winner of each category will be 100% determined by public vote.
Voting opens on Friday 16th November and closes on Wednesday 12th December, and you can vote by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, online at www.sthelier.je/whats-on/christmas-window-competition or by voting slip found in participating stores (these are to be handed in to the Town Hall by 5pm on Tuesday 11th December). There will be some amazing prizes to be won by members of the voting public, including a Paperchase hamper of goodies, a prize from Jersey Telecom and a voucher from Voisins.
One further category to be won by retailers is the Judges’ Choice Award. This year the judges are St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft, Chamber of Commerce CEO Murray Norton, and BBC Radio Jersey Breakfast presenter Ashlea Tracey, and this category will be judged on Thursday 6th December from 6pm.
The Constable of St Helier Simon Crowcroft says: ‘I applaud this exciting and fun initiative, and encourage all retailers to participate and make this Christmas really special.’
This event is a great opportunity to keep the community motivated about the local retailer, and to reinforce the message to ‘Buy Local’. For more information please contact Daphne East, Director & Town Centre Manager, at email@example.com or on 01534 811813 / 07797 824843.
