This year’s Christmas Lights Switch On promises to be very exciting, with Santa moving through town switching on the lights as he goes. He’ll be joined by a festive train full of excited children enjoying the festive cheer throughout St Helier, with local school choirs at some of the destinations to add that special magic to the event.
Santa’s Sleigh and Express Train will commence the Switch On at Millennium Town Park, and will travel down through St Helier to the Weighbridge. Spaces on the train have been donated to Les Amis and there is a competition running with the Jersey Evening Post to fill the remaining 10 spaces.
Starting at Millennium Town Park at approximately 5.45pm, the Parade will be led to West’s Centre for its Switch On by the ‘Word on the Street’ band, where carol singers from St Saviour’s School will entertain the crowds.
Elfin ’n’ Bob, Christmas comedy elves, will be at the Royal Square ready for Santa’s arrival at approximately 6.45pm for the Grand Christmas Lights Switch On, where live music and songs from the First Tower School Choir and the Hot Bananas will add to the atmosphere.
The Parade will finish up at the Weighbridge at approximately 7pm; there will be a festive food village with live music, and Santa will be available for photographs (book your space at https://bit.ly/2qMV99i). Parade characters will then move back into the general shopping precinct with goodie bags available for children.
The festive food village will be open from mid-day till late on Thursday 22nd November, with local food stalls, live music and a vintage carousel.
