On Friday the Parish of St Helier was informed on social media that works were taking place on Parish land alongside Westmount Road. Diggers were involved, and there was concern that Parish trees were being felled.
The Constable of St Helier immediately requested an investigation, and it was discovered that the UK surveying company carrying out work on behalf of the new Hospital team, as part of the Overdale project, had come onto Parish land without permission to dig trial holes. No trees were damaged in the process, however.
The Parish has now received a full apology from the contractor undertaking the survey, and they have agreed to reimburse the Parish for any reinstatement work that is necessary. The surveyors have also agreed to improve their communication with the Parish and the public as they carry out further surveys in the coming days.
