Situated on Balmoral Drive off Trinity Hill, St Ewold's has sixty single occupancy rooms and three suites which are ideal for couples, partners or close relatives wishing to enter residential care together.
The Home provides care for residents with a wide range of needs, ranging from totally independent residents to those who have greater physical needs and, due to its environment, is able to offer a home to residents using wheelchairs, as well as walking frames and walking sticks. There is also the facility of five nursing beds.
Each room has a call system to summon assistance, and all rooms are ensuite; however each floor offers additional bathrooms with disabled facilities. The main lounge is situated on the first floor with the main dining room on the ground floor, together with a hairdressing salon and hobbies room.
Social activities are organised regularly and range from Island tours, coffee mornings, gardening, theatre trips, restaurant and pub outings, bingo and crafts. A changing stock of library books is available, many of which are in larger print, and newpapers can be ordered at your request, to be paid for by yourself.
If you currently attend any day centres or social clubs, arrangements can be made for this to continue. Similarly your own GP can make visits, and Family Nursing & Home Care provides support services to St Ewold's.
The Home Manager has overall responsibility for the Home, its residents and staff. The staff team is made up of qualified health care professionals and ancillary staff. The residents' immediate needs will be met by carers, who are available 24 hours a day. Each room has a call system to summon assistance. Housekeeping staff will clean all residents' rooms and communal areas on a daily basis. Kitchen staff provide a varied and nutritious daily menu, and will endeavour to meet any special dietary needs.
St Ewold's also has five nursing care beds for residents who require a higher level of care, with the nurses all being RGNs.

St Ewold's Residential Home Refurbishment
Step inside St Ewold's Residential Home and you'll find an atmosphere and environment that is unlike most 'traditional' care homes. Age, ability and background make no distinction in how our residents are treated; every single person enjoys the same level of respect, support and tender loving care.
Life at St Ewold's is all about choice. How you want to spend your day, what to eat for lunch, whether to enjoy a trip to the shops or simply relax in your bedroom or in the beautiful garden - it is entirely up to you. At St Ewold's everyone sets their own agenda - with the full support and loving care of our friendly team of care staff naturally.
All of the bedrooms at St Ewold's are light, spacious and comfortable with wonderful elevated views over the town of St Helier or woodland. From the comfortable beds, tasteful furnishings and flat-screen televisions, through to the safety-enabled bathrooms, every single feature has been carefully selected to meet our exacting standards.
Picking the right people who share our values is absolutely essential, and the care, support and development we offer our staff ensures we get the best staff with the right attitude.
The fact that many of the St Ewold's team have been with us for over ten years is testimony to our unerring support for them - and to the extent to which they enjoy their work. This incredible loyalty means we can offer a level of continuity that is unrivalled in many other care homes.
Rest and relaxation or activity and stimulation - at St Ewold's how you spend your time is your choice entirely.
St Ewold's benefits from a member of staff who is fully dedicated to running a comprehensive program of activities every single day. What's more, the agenda is built from the requests and suggestions of our residents, their families and friends. All residents are provided with an up-to-date agenda each week. This 'collaborative' approach to activity planning enables us to be completely in touch with our residents' personal preferences, whatever these may be.
For our 'gardeners', we have a lovely elevated terrace with easy access to raised flower beds for planting, while our 'booklovers' can attend book groups and reading circles. And there is always the option to indulge in a spot of health or wellbeing, such as an appointment with our regular hairdresser and nail technician. Activities are not limited to within St Ewold's however, we also run frequent shopping excursions, theatre trips, or a scenic drive followed by afternoon tea at a local café. You are never at risk of having nothing to do at St Ewold's - unless, of course, you choose to take a well-earned break!
Friends and family are the backbone of everyone's life, which is why we encourage visitors to take part in life at St Ewold's wherever possible. Relatives and friends are welcome to spend time with us at any time, and we are only too pleased to lay an extra place at lunch or dinner for visitors - on request. Some visitors like to join us for activities every day: it's all part of our friendly, 'open door' policy. We also encourage friends and family to join us on outings and for social events - an extra pair of hands is always welcome!
Our kitchen team prides themselves on the delicious and varied menus available which are prepared with the full involvement of our residents, using only the freshest, most nutritious locally-sourced ingredients. Special requests are welcomed - and rest assured we never let a birthday, anniversary or other important occasion go unmarked. To keep our menus varied and interesting we also hold regular themed days with specially-created dishes in the style of a particular country. The residents recently celebrated Chinese New Year with a banquet prepared by our chefs.
A friendly and dedicated team of domestic and laundry assistants ensures that the cleanliness of the environment is maintained to the highest standard at all times.
Set on Trinity Hill, St Ewold's has capacity for up to 66 residents. The care and support provided by our residential team enables our residents to enjoy an extremely social, independent lifestyle - all under the watchful eye of our experienced team of carers and nursing staff.

Purpose built and opened in 1994, St Ewold's has recently benefited from a facelift.
With some small building works to form a new 'Cosy Corner' and meeting room, improved and upgraded audio visual equipment, new shop refit and frontage, flooring, decoration and signage, the entrance reception areas and Gardner Lounge have been transformed.
It's fair to say the renovation wasn't taken lightly. In a recent Swedish study it had been suggested that residents in care were more frail and sensitive to change than had previously been assumed, and that this needed to be considered when facilities accommodating the elderly required refurbishment. At St Ewold's, however, we were delighted to find that rather than become worried or agitated about the changes taking place, our residents embraced the whole process. They enjoyed watching the new shop evolve, commented about the paint colour, the wallpaper samples and curtain fabrics and made it clear what they did and didn't like. It may be that the newly-transformed areas of the Home are less of a design statement, but we know that the residents and their families love it and, after all, that's what matters.
What this redesign does do is continue to support residents' independence and incorporates the latest design approaches recommended for dementia care, including improved lighting and additional space.
