From Easter this year the Parish has provided a series of free
weekly two hour guided walks open to all comers. The aim
is to encourage a greater knowledge of the Parish's rich history for the
benefit of parishioners, as well as supporting Jersey's tourism
industry - which will also assist the town's retail and hospitality
sectors. The programme of walks has been devised by Tom Bunting, whose
'Murder, Muck and Mayhem' walk has been enjoyed by hundreds over the
years, and will feature some of the Island's experienced and qualified
Blue Badge Guides as well as experts on St Helier's maritime history and
wartime experiences.
Join tour guide Clive Jones for 'Uncovering St Helier's French Connection' on Thursday 17th October. Discover the fascinating histories of St Helier's heroes and heroines, including the celebrated French authors Maitre Wace and Victor Hugo. The hidden histories of the Place du Marché will be revealed, and the Battle of Jersey, before wandering through the cobbled (and at one time riotous) land of the old French quarter.
These walks are proving extremely popular so don't miss out - please search for 'St Helier guided walk' at www.eventbrite.com to book your space.
