An event inviting the general public to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ordination of women to the priesthood in the Church of England, with focus on Jersey.
When: Tuesday 12th November 2019.
5pm - 5.30pm Holy Communion at the Town Church, presided by Rev. Tracy Bromley (Hospital Chaplain and Curate at St Clement’s Church)
7pm - 9pm Assembly Rooms, Town Hall : an evening for everyone to reflect on the journey of women’s ordained ministry in Jersey over the past 25 years and looking ahead to the future.
Join us for refreshments at 7pm and to view the displays that tell the stories of all the women who have been called to ordained ministry from Jersey, or been ordained and come to Jersey to minister over the past 25 years.
The Dean of Jersey, the Very Rev. Mike Keirle, will open the evening and welcome everyone.
Rev. Helen Gunton, Curate at St Ouen and St George, will give a presentation of the journeys of all the women who have been ordained from or to Jersey.
Cathy Le Feuvre from BBC Radio Jersey will facilitate a panel discussion about changes in ministry since women were ordained 25 years ago. Panel comprising: Rev. Gerry Baudains (former Rector of St Martin, Women’s Ministry Adviser, Assistant Diocesan Director of Vocations, Rev. Mark Bond (Rector of St Brelade), Canon Geoff Houghton (Vice Dean and Rector of Trinity), Rev. Bev Sproats (Rector of St John and Jersey Safeguarding Lead).
There will be the opportunity for discussion on experiences of shared ministry and feedback.
