Holocaust Memorial Day Jersey focuses on the 21 Island men and women who perished in German prisons and concentrations camps in the Second World War, while also remembering the Holocaust in Europe and all acts of genocide, persecution and racism. None were Jewish. They were tried and sentenced to terms of imprisonment on the continent for acts of sabotage, spreading BBC news when possession of a wireless was forbidden and other 'crimes' against the German occupying forces. The Channel Islands were the British territory to be occupied in the Second World War.
