Jèrriais - A Country Girl visits the Town : guided walk

From Easter this year the Parish is providing a series of free weekly two hour guided walks which will be open to all comers. The aim is to encourage a greater knowledge of the Parish's rich history for the benefit of parishioners, as well as supporting Jersey's tourism industry - which will also assist the town's retail and hospitality sectors. The programme of walks has been devised by Tom Bunting, whose 'Murder, Muck and Mayhem' walk has been enjoyed by hundreds over the years, and will feature some of the Island's experienced and qualified Blue Badge Guides as well as experts on St Helier's maritime history and wartime experiences.

Join tour guide Dacia Diggle for 'Jèrriais - A Country Girls visits the Town' on Thursday 25th April. Dacia is one of the very few native speakers of Jèrriais, Jersey's own unique language, and so she's the ideal person to take you around St Helier. Join her for tales of customs and traditions from times past, see the landmarks and markets from the perspective of a country visitor to town - and maybe leave having learnt a few words of Jèrriais.

No booking is necessary - simply turn up at the Town Hall on the day for a 10.30am start.

(Please note there will be no walk on Liberation Day.)

For more information on any of the walks please telephone Tom on 07797 780868.
