From Easter this year the Parish has provided a series of free weekly two hour guided walks open to all comers. The aim is to encourage a greater knowledge of the Parish's rich history for the benefit of parishioners, as well as supporting Jersey's tourism industry - which will also assist the town's retail and hospitality sectors. The programme of walks has been devised by Tom Bunting, whose 'Murder, Muck and Mayhem' walk has been enjoyed by hundreds over the years, and will feature some of the Island's experienced and qualified Blue Badge Guides as well as experts on St Helier's maritime history and wartime experiences.
Join tour guide Sue Hardy for 'Look Up! The Art and Architecture of St Helier' on
Thursday 3rd October. Town has a variety of building styles and materials, evolved over centuries and enhanced by many decorative features, often with a distinctive French flavour. Art works, new and old, enliven the scene, both indoors and out. Feast your eyes on the fanciful and the frivolous!
These walks are proving extremely popular so don't miss out - please search for 'St Helier guided walk' at www.eventbrite.com to book your space.
