MONDAY 28th October at 1pm at the Children’s Playground, People’s Park:
Following an incentive put to the Parish by the St Helier Bloom Group and the West of Town Community Association, which Richard played a key part in instigating, there will be a Memorial Planting of three fruit trees in memory of Deputy Richard Rondel who passed away on 14th November 2018. The three trees we are planting represent his three sons - James, Jack and Joshua Rondel.
Deputy Rondel was an enthusiastic supporter of the Parish, and was responsible for the creation of the Fête de St Hélier in 2013. He was also an active member of the St Helier – Funchal Twinning Committee and of the Portuguese community in Jersey. He was tireless in his efforts to find solutions for problems affecting the daily lives of his constituents, and he was active on their behalf until the final days of his illness.
One of the Deputy’s final official functions was to open a studio for local artists provided by Dandara in their development at Westmount, to be known as the Richard Rondel Arts Studio.
The trees are: Prunus Dulcis Almond, Prunus Domestica Victoria Plum, and Prunus Avium Cherry Stella.
A memorial plaque will be placed at a later date. All are welcome to attend.
