From Easter this year the Parish has provided a series of free weekly two hour guided walks open to all comers. The aim is to encourage a greater knowledge of the Parish's rich history for the benefit of parishioners, as well as supporting Jersey's tourism industry - which will also assist the town's retail and hospitality sectors. The programme of walks has been devised by Tom Bunting, whose 'Murder, Muck and Mayhem' walk has been enjoyed by hundreds over the years, and will feature some of the Island's experienced and qualified Blue Badge Guides as well as experts on St Helier's maritime history and wartime experiences.
Join tour guide Neil Singleton for 'Urban Birding' on
Thursday 19th September, and discover a variety of species that have learned to live alongside us amongst the buildings, parks and gardens and the hidden corners of St Helier. Look out for a peregrin falcon perched high above you, and a pied wagtail at your feet. You'll also notice wildflowers growing out of nowhere, and even a fleeting glimpse of a butterfly flitting past.
These walks are proving extremely popular so don't miss out - please search for 'St Helier guided walk' at www.eventbrite.com to book your space.
